We stopped at Backyard Kitchen and Tap for brunch one morning before going to pick up some plates we had finished at a Harry Potter creations event. It sponsors the Michigan Wolverines football team during the season so if you are a Wolverines fan. Then Backyard Kitchen and Tap is the best spot to see all of those games. While that isn’t what drew us to the site as we were impressed by the amount of space this venue offered from its combination of inside and outside space. Having a nice outside patio is always a draw for Tanika and I because it brings a wonderful openness to any space.
The only downside to sitting outside was the number of flies that we had at our table! It was kind of off-putting to us, but the food and service were excellent, so it helped make up for it. A mimosa flight is available on their brunch menu, and it includes four available flavors:
- Blackberry & Apricot Liqueur (Stone & Thicket)
- Vodka, Apple & Cinnamon (Fall Harvest)
- Rose & Grapefruit Vodka (Winter Rose)
- Luxardo, Bourbon, & Chocolate Bitters (Chocolate Cherry)
As mentioned before, the service at Backyard Kitchen and Tap was excellent. Our server was attentive and responsive to any requests from both of us. The server consistently made sure we had everything we needed for refreshments. It helped add to our experience. The food was excellent. I had the brisket hash while Tanika had the garden omelet. Tanika loved the garden omelet and my brisket hash was a large helping, and the brisket was juicy and tender. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for good brunch food or maybe even some beer and good sports. Hopefully, Backyard Kitchen and Tap does something about the abundance of flies that did happen to be outside.
