This Harry Potter Magical Event took place at Cool Creations in Pacific Beach. Cool Creations is an arts and crafts place that holds various themed events. One of them was the Harry Potter Magical event, and we both love the Wizarding World so we figured why not create some themed pottery. When we first walked into the event, we had to walk through a bunch of hanging letters that Harry had received in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
This location had a lot of Harry Potter memorabilia, which I loved, as it made you excited to do some Harry Potter art. Harry Potter themed snacks, and butterbeer was available to the attendees and helped build up the Harry Potter ambiance. The butterbeer was pretty good, and I enjoyed drinking it while painting my plate. After sitting down for a bit, we were told that we could select our pottery to decorate for this event. The selection of pottery was vast from cups and bowls to plates like we picked. Some of the cups were cute though and were in the shape of castle towers.
The painting process was fairly simple. The one thing that Tanika encountered was that she wanted to paint her entire plate a certain color then stick on her vinyl. It didn’t seem possible to do that due to the paint taking too long to dry before it is heat treated. So, if you plan on painting your entire cup or pottery before sticking on the vinyl just hold that warning in mind. Images below highlight the vinyl placement and how it looks after sticking on to my plate and during the painting process.
Once the painting is completed, you give the completed piece to the attendants and they will have you pay for it before you leave. Future ticket prices might include the piece of the pottery but since they don’t know which piece people will choose. It might be hard to gauge the price of the tickets until the pottery piece is chosen unless they assign a fixed price to each piece.
Regardless, this is still a cool place to do some fun art and I would highly recommend everybody check them out to do some art for your favorite movie or TV series. It was a fun time for us and as always we hope you enjoyed reading about our adventure and don’t forget to subscribe!
